A verb in English grammar is a word that shows action, occurrence, or a state of being.
It is one of the most important parts of speech because every sentence needs a verb to make sense.

A verb is a word that tells what someone or something does, is, or happens.
Examples:

🔹 Types of Verbs:
1. Action Verbs
Show what the subject does.
Examples: run, eat, write, dance, play
✅ He plays football.
2. Linking Verbs
Connect the subject to a word or phrase that describes it.
Common linking verbs: am, is, are, was, were, be, been, being
✅ She is a teacher.
✅ They were tired.
3. Helping (Auxiliary) Verbs
Help the main verb to form tenses, questions, or negatives.
Common helping verbs: be, have, do, can, may, might, will, shall, must, should

4. Transitive Verbs
Need an object to complete their meaning.

Show possibility, necessity, permission, or ability.
